Chair the Board, line manager of the Managing Director, ensure good governance, strategy, business planning etc.

Founded by own business and eventually retired from running it to overseeing it in a non-executive role

No

Describe your most memorable day at work

Winning a £1.3million tender for support of some software against the company who had written it

People management

What’s your work environment and culture like?

Homeworking except on board meeting days

What extracurricular activities did you undertake at university and what transferable skills did you develop through these?

Debating Society (primarily developed great toasty making skills, but did also help me develop my sales patter)

What top tips do you have for York students preparing for today’s job market and life after graduation?

The first job is not forever, but it's best not to change jobs more than once every two or three years. Many employers are put off my any candidate who changes roles more frequently.
