A day in the life of a Head of Partnerships and App Ads Finance for EMEA in the United Kingdom
Do internships - I did not, and as a result I was at a disadvantage compared to some of my masters classmates who already had full-time job offers.
Briefly describe the organisation you work for
I work for Google
What do you do?
I help plan sales strategy for the coming years, identify new revenue opportunities, and track business performance.
Reflecting upon your past employment and education, what led you to your current career choice?
After graduating from York, I decided I wanted to work on the commercial side of things, so I did a masters in management. Following that, I worked for Procter & Gamble in various finance roles, ranging from strategy to manufacturing. In 2018, I moved from P&G to Google, to see what it is like to work for a faster-moving company.
Is your current job sector different from what you thought you would enter when you graduated?
Not really
Describe your most memorable day at work

What extracurricular activities did you undertake at university and what transferable skills did you develop through these?
I was active in several societies and associations, mainly the York Union (now Debating Society) and the International Students Association. I thoroughly enjoyed my work in those, and they were very useful for providing examples of leadership and collaboration in interviews.
What top tips do you have for York students preparing for today’s job market and life after graduation?
Do internships - I did not, and as a result I was at a disadvantage compared to some of my masters classmates who already had full-time job offers.
Be active in campus life; don't do this purely for CV-building, do things you actually enjoy.
