Life is full of challenges but nothing is impossible with great motive and strong persistence.

University
What do you do?
Teaching, consultation & advising, and volunteering.
Reflecting upon your past employment and education, what led you to your current career choice?
My working path took me longer time than expected to reach my goals and achieve my objectives. Because I am very passionate to learning, gaining knowledge, and higher degrees, I tried everything possible to overcome the many obstacles I faced throughout my educational journey to fulfilling my dreams.
Is your current job sector different from what you thought you would enter when you graduated?
no
Describe your most memorable day at work
The most memorable days at work are: when I get thank you letters from my students, when my students pass their exams, when my students get higher degrees and gain the same degree as I have, when my students tell me about the power of my classes and when I manage to change some of my students' negative attitudes to positive.
Are there any challenges associated with your job?

What’s your work environment and culture like?
Female only classes but extended to participate in other male meetings in different sectors within the Islamic borders.
What extracurricular activities did you undertake at university and what transferable skills did you develop through these?
vol
What would you like to do next with your career?
Exploring the world is one of my interests. I do not mind to share my experience and train people who are willing to make the difference in their environment.
What top tips do you have for York students preparing for today’s job market and life after graduation?
Never give up and do not knock on one door only. Steps have to be forward and never backward. Remember a child has fallen many times to walk and climb the stairs. Believe in yourself and your power as every person has different perspective of life.
What topics from students are you happy to answer questions on?
Applied linguistics is a multidisciplinary field, it deals with the practicality of teaching to learning the different language skills. I have the potential to teaching all language courses but very passionate to teaching English grammar and writing poetry.
Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?
I volunteered for 2 years as the head of KAMC Patient and Families Advisory Council at King Abdullah Medical City, Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
I published a book in Arabic and in the process of writing other books in English.
