What do you do?
I am in charge of the FT's coverage of Russia and the former Soviet Union, and write about Russian politics, foreign policy, economics and society.
Reflecting upon your past employment and education, what led you to your current career choice?
I studied English and edited Nouse while at York.
Is your current job sector different from what you thought you would enter when you graduated?
No
Describe your most memorable day at work
The day in June 2019 when I interviewed Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin.
What extracurricular activities did you undertake at university and what transferable skills did you develop through these?
I was editor of Nouse, the student newspaper, and won prizes for that including journalism internships
What top tips do you have for York students preparing for today’s job market and life after graduation?
Write, volunteer, travel and learn a foreign language.
