A day in the life of a Creative Arts (writing, music and visual art) in the United States
I've always studied the creative arts and my studies at the University of York gave me a solid foundation to tackle dramatic writing in a professional manner.
Briefly describe the organisation you work for
Work independently on creative endeavors. When I work for organizations, its usually doing organizing, canvassing, or fundraising for non profits, political campaigns, and a variety of causes.
What do you do?
I write, direct, act, play music, and create artwork. I have played music at concernts, on albums, and commercials. I have had had work presented at galleries and sold at auctions. I have had work published, freelance writing, and plays put done off off Broadway in NYC.
Reflecting upon your past employment and education, what led you to your current career choice?
I've always studied the creative arts and my studies at the University of York gave me a solid foundation to tackle dramatic writing in a professional manner.
Is your current job sector different from what you thought you would enter when you graduated?
I do dabble in many work opportunities, and I always knew I would have varied, creative pursuits.

Winning the last presidential election :)
What extracurricular activities did you undertake at university and what transferable skills did you develop through these?
I was the Press and Publicity Officer of People and Planet, wrote articles/volunteered/attended meetings at the Green Party Cllub, Member of he Snooker Team and DJ Club, attended meetings of the Cinema Club and Amnesty Int
What top tips do you have for York students preparing for today’s job market and life after graduation?
Network, be your own advocate, handle rejection humbly, and always be looking for the next opportunity.
