A day in the life of a Viking-Age Archaeologist & Nalbinding Mastercraftsman in the United Kingdom
I was always a quick learner, inspired by archaeology and history, but didn't necessarily agree with the system that it all revolved in. So I decided to make my own path.
Briefly describe the organisation you work for
In November 2020, I came out of the Commercial Archaeology sector and decided to run my own heritage business full-time.
What do you do?
I'm the Mastercraftsman and Nalbinding Specialist at Nidavellnir which is my Viking-Age Heritage Craft Shop
Reflecting upon your past employment and education, what led you to your current career choice?
I was always a quick learner, inspired by archaeology and history, but didn't necessarily agree with the system that it all revolved in. So I decided to make my own path.
Is your current job sector different from what you thought you would enter when you graduated?
Yes and No, same industry, still heritage related and I conduct independent research. Just I'm my own boss now.
Describe your most memorable day at work
Being told by a Nalbinding student that I had genuinely made a massive difference to their lives, by providing a historical versatile outlet for them to express themselves.

Being financially stable, is the never ending challenge of being self employed
What’s your work environment and culture like?
