Briefly describe the organisation you work for

I work for Nectar 360, a business that sits under the Sainsbury’s umbrella. We provide marketing for the Sainsbury’s brand as well as Sainsbury’s clients.

What do you do?

I am responsible for campaign roll out for Sainsbury’s clients. This includes multimedia campaigns, from store posters to online media. The role involves handling key strategic clients as well as other stakeholders to ensure campaigns come together and are effective for those clients.

Reflecting upon your past employment and education, what led you to your current career choice?

I studied politics at York and was unsure what to do after. Marketing appealed to me because of the strategic and artistic elements.

Is your current job sector different from what you thought you would enter when you graduated?

Yes

Describe your most memorable day at work

My first day

Are there any challenges associated with your job?

Time management and client relationships are key to my job. You have to ensure deadlines are hit but at the same time, balance client expectations

What’s your work environment and culture like?

It’s a very friendly and inclusive environment.

What extracurricular activities did you undertake at university and what transferable skills did you develop through these?

University Sport, College Sport, College Committee. All of these helped with my time management and team working skills.

What would you like to do next with your career?

I want to work up through my current company over the next few years and learn everything they have to teach me.

What top tips do you have for York students preparing for today’s job market and life after graduation?

Keep applying! You learn with every job application. Be open to opportunity as well, grad schemes aren’t the only way to get a job after graduation. Be persistent, follow up on interviews and ask for feedback.
