A day in the life of a Business Consultant in the United Kingdom
Courses taken since graduation
MA PPE, University of York
My advice to students considering work
Take some time out for yourselves before working - there's no rush to get into something straight after University; if you're interested in graduate schemes, remember that they're open to graduates for up to 5 years or so after graduating.
What I do
I work for an IT Consultancy and Outsourcing company, employed as part of their Graduate Programme. The Programme is 2 years long, on which I rotate on 4 placements in areas including Service Delivery, Business Transformation and New Business (bidding). There are opportunities for industry recognised training courses, including Project Management.
Skills I use and how I developed them
Extracurricular skills:
Interpersonal and networking skills - through holding positions of responsibility in various societies and sports teams.
What I like most
The flexibility and the variation of the roles; no 2 days are the same.
What I like least
The location and need to travel.
