Do lots of work placements whilst you are at university.

What I do

My duties include: Working within a small team in a busy learning department to devise, develop and deliver media related workshops and talks for Key Stage 2-4 school groups, adult SEN groups, senior citizens, family and community groups; to research and develop the museum’s adult programme including delivering adult courses creative writing and the history of photography; to develop and deliver a multi-faceted ESOL programme; to work with the exhibitions team to develop and deliver talks and acitivities based on the temporary exhibitions; writing promotional copy for the advertising of our events and workshops.

Skills I use and how I developed them

Both my degrees and voluntary work at York Minster Library.

Degree skills:
Research skills and knowledge.

Extracurricular skills:
Practical hertiage experience.

What I like most

The variety of tasks and educating others on our collections.

What I like least



What would I change? I would have done more work experience at university.
