A day in the life of a Sales Coordinator in Norway
My career history

Sales Coordinator at Datametrix in Oslo, Norway - January 2011 to present

My advice to students considering work
Advice in relation to finding a job:
Apply for a lot of jobs! The more interviews you go through, the more comfortable you will become, and therefore the better you will present yourself. But be patient! Each application and interview process takes a long time! Find a list of questions that are normally asked in interviews and complete it. This will allow you to think through the process beforehand and will therefore make you more prepared and comfortable in the real thing. Search for jobs yourself and get help from recruitment companies. When you are offered a job, make sure you read through the job contract carefully and do some research before you sign it! Have the strength to say ‘no’ if you do not feel comfortable with the job you have been offered. Be patient and positive! You will find something! Good luck!
What I do
As Sales Coordinator my role includes administrative jobs for the leaders within the sales department. I do bookings, organising, meeting notes, follow-ups, as well as writing standard documents and presentations. I also work closely with the HR and Marketing departments. My job is basically to make sure that communication (both within and between departments) and work is in top order, so that the results are as good as possible. Due to my international experience and fluent English, I also work as an English advisor, helping with general communication and writing.
Skills I use and how I developed them
The things that helped me get my job were: My bachelor degree, international experience, language skills, previous job experience, other personal experiences, and my personality (I was tested!).
Degree skills:
The working habits I picked up during my undergraduate course have definitely helped me. I feel mostly prepared for everything that I do, and have the calmness and control to solve problems that come along.
What I like most
It is a new position not only for me but for the company as well. Therefore I am able to help create my own job, something which I find interesting, exciting and challenging! I also love the atmosphere at work! The company are known for having an amazing working environment. I feel very welcome, at home and comfortable.
What I like least
As I am still fairly new there are days where I do not have much to do. I work best under pressure and when I have quite a lot to do, so I am looking forward to when things pick up.
What would I change? Nothing, as I find it is a perfect way to start with full potential of progression.
