A day in the life of a Economics Analyst in Malta

My advice to students considering work

I'm sure you heard this before several times, but I have to point it out here again: York (as a city) is truly wonderful and the community at the university provides a really positive experience.

What I do

The department in which I work provides Government with expert advice and assistance in the formulation of economic policy and the management of economic activity, with the aim of attaining Government’s overall objectives of economic growth and development, high employment and low inflation.

Skills I use and how I developed them

I have a specialised degree in economics and some experience in related matters.

Degree skills:
The course at the University of York provided me with the opportunity to further my knowledge, and served as an important eye opener in terms of the latest areas of research. It also helped me to appreciate more the mathematical approach to economics.

Extracurricular skills:
The time spent living on the campus in a 'foreign' country together with fellow students from all over the world is an extremely exciting opportunity. It helps you to appreciate different points of views and to put things into perspective.

What I like most

What I like most about my job is the opportunities presented to me in terms of research in economic policy. Furthermore, I represent my country in several EU (Commission) working groups and experts' groups.
