A day in the life of a Executive in Malaysia
Where I hope to be in 5 years
I hope to enter the academic field in PETRONAS and thus use my corporate knowledge to share with the students.
My advice to students considering work
Make sure you choose the right job; as far as possible, try to get the one that you are really interested in. Otherwise, do not be too choosy as you really need work experience to develop your career later. Do accept the reality of job life so that you can easily adapt to any challenge that may come later. The reality is, job life is hectic, full of stress and surprises but you can channel all those negative elements towards positive elements. Take them as your opportunity to learn more.
What I do
My current task is dealing with Planning & Administration matters. Previously, I was assigned to conducting internal audits.
Skills I use and how I developed them
Degree skills:
The analytical process acquired during my study at York, as well as my student life experience, has really contributed in making me confident in my job.
What I like most
I enjoy the exposure that I gain in understanding the oil and gas operation. I also like the fact that I get the opportunity to learn more as PETRONAS is a big company and there is a lot of knowledge and experience to tap into. PETRONAS is a leading oil and gas company, wholly owned by the Malaysian Government. It is ranked amongst the Fortune Global 500 largest corporations in the world.
