A day in the life of a Therapy Radiographer in the United Kingdom
My career history
My Biology degree enabled me to undertake a fast-track qualification to become a Therapy Radiographer, using high-energy X-rays in cancer therapy. This job allows me to use my biological background along with Physics and Oncology learnt through this additional course.

There are many different options for specialising in this career, for example into research, education or advanced practice
My advice to students considering work
Take part in anything that interests you at University, as you might not get the opportunity so readily in the future. Prepare a CV early and seek as much feedback and advice on job applications and career pathways as possible.
Skills I use and how I developed them
Besides the educational benefits and the impact on my career, my degree at York prepared me well for a full-time job and taught me valuable skills such as time management and organisation.
What I like most
I enjoy the varied elements of a career in Radiotherapy, from the physics and biology background to helping patients cope with their treatment and potential side effects
