A day in the life of a Web Developer in the United Kingdom
My career history
I've been doing freelance web development for about a year and a half after I graduated.
Where I hope to be in 5 years
Hope to continue working for Space Creative and slowly build the website side of the business.
My advice to students considering work
My advice is to get as much practical experience as you can. Start doing your own projects, think of a type of site you want to develop and start messing about until you figure it out.
My advice about working in my industry
Start doing your own projects, think of a type of site you want to develop and start messing about until you figure it out.
What I do
I develop the backend of websites, including setting up content management systems, ecommerce systems and bespoke coding of custom features, mainly using PHP, HTML, Javascript and CSS.
Skills I use and how I developed them
Extracurricular skills:
Web development skills, which I developed using Google, online tutorials and a bit of talking to other web developers. I haven't actually ever done a course or degree on web development.
What I like least
Pitching for new projects.
