A day in the life of a International Trade Analyst in China
Where I hope to be in 5 years
Currently as I am just starting my career, I am learning as much as possible, and taking on as much responsibility as possible. I am trying to progress as fast as I can within the financial service industry.
My advice to students considering work
The commercial banking sector finance service sector is fiercely competitive. Just keep in mind any individual company may go out of business, the financial service sector is here to stay. The starting salary may be only humble, but any knowledge you gain while on the job is invaluable, the key thing is to learn and practice as much as possible as a graduate.
I believe that as more UK educated graduates excel in their professions after returning to China, employers will understand the UK higher education system better. Even better - these returners may become employers and HRs doing the recruiting themselves.

What I like most
I really enjoy seeing the insights of international trade and from the point of view of commercial banks. I get to see the desires and fears of the players in international trade. Also being inside of the management department of a commercial bank, I get to see the the inter cooperation between different departments of commercial banks.
What I like least
The long working hours have squeezed any personal life I could possibly want. I get to the office at 7 in the morning and don't get off until 8 in the evening. My responsibility is so demanding that I am almost dedicating my entire life to my work.
What would I change? I really enjoy what I am doing right now, and happy with my career progression. As I am getting better at what I do, I am ready to take on even more responsibility in the department and the bank as a whole.
