A day in the life of a Forensic Analyst in the United Kingdom
Courses taken since graduation
SQL, VBA, Basic Accounting, Project Management
Where I hope to be in 5 years
I've already moved to Data Analyst role with Barclays.
My advice to students considering work
Be active, get involved in societies, do extracurricular stuff and make sure that you enjoying it and developing yourself at the same time, get some solid IT skills. Internships are useful but not a must - I haven't done any and still secured a graduate job.
Everything is becoming automated, and the volumes of data bigger and bigger, so it's all about IT. Learn the tools: R, SAS, MS SQL and some BI ones like Qlikview or Spotfire (if you fancy more business oriented applications of data analytics), and learn some programming languages like e.g. Python, Java or C##. Usually you don't need to know them all, so focus on 2 tools and 1-2 languages at the beginning, you'll pick up the rest with time and according to your needs.
