A day in the life of a Teacher of English in the United Kingdom

Where I hope to be in 5 years

Eventually I hope to become a senior leader of a school and possibly even a headteacher.

What I do

As a teacher of English I am responsible for the way in which the adults of the future communicate and how they analyse situations they may be involved in. As well as teaching lessons and interacting with students, I am responsible for the data analysis concerning those students.

Skills I use and how I developed them

Don't be scared to take risks in the education sector, children are often excited by new things. Also get involved as early as possible, I would highly recommend the YSIS programme.

Extracurricular skills:
Communication skills which have been developed mainly through the Scout Association and having to problem solve in groups.

Determination which has been developed constantly thorough my life.

Time managing which has been developed by constant deadlines at a level and university.

Patience which has been developed through working with children.

What I like most

I really enjoy seeing a student who really clicks and begins to understand.

What I like least

The politics involved on the education system.
