My advice to students considering work

Be realistic. Be practical. Graft hard. Be prepared to start at the bottom every time you try something new.

My advice about working in my industry

In the legal services industry - academic prowess is never enough. In the social impact sector - your focus is not you but your beneficiaries. In the management consultancy sector - what you do today will not suit tomorrow.

Contacting me

Happy to answer all questions. Happy to mentor any student.

What I do

Support those in the legal services sector (law firms, chambers as well as the new breed of organisation e.g ABSs) and the social impact sector (charities and social enterprises) to navigate the uncertainties and opportunities of their future.

How I started my business

As a lawyer, I realised I needed to have business and management skills - so left practice and took an MBA.

What inspired me

The knowledge that I was interested in the business side of an organisation.

Skills I use and how I developed them

I use plenty of different and wide ranging skills. I continue to develop them via courses, reading and practical efforts with clients.

What I like most

Being my own boss.

What I like least

Never having the certainty of a regular income, although that applies to those who are employed just as much these days.

What surprised me most

That what I learnt in past employed roles would always be useful for the next role.
