Why I continued studying
I found a problem I wanted to work on, and was lucky enough that my then employer had a scheme for funding PhD studentships. I set up my own project and then found a relevant university group to work with.
My advice to students considering further study
Think very carefully about it. In electronic engineering in particular, a PhD adds relatively little value over industrial experience. Make sure your project is interesting to you and that your supervisor and research group will give you adequate support. I would not wholeheartedly recommend the experience!
