Briefly describe the organisation you work for
Leading the market for over 20 years, our RWE team holds an unrivaled position in the field. We have expertise in generating new data via a variety of methodologies and also in the analytics of data from multiple data sources. We have a number of internal data sources and also external data partners, globally.
We are a team of experts, working alongside our clients, to offer flexible solutions across the healthcare sector.Our team leverages data from diverse sources to answer questions about disease epidemiology, burden, treatment patterns, comparative effectiveness and costs.
What do you do?
I am a Principal RWE consultant at an agency called OPEN Health
Reflecting upon your past employment and education, what led you to your current career choice?
I wanted to leverage my skills acquired during my MSc Health Economics and combine them with my knowledge of drugs and the NHS. Working in Pharma/consulting was ideal for this.
Is your current job sector different from what you thought you would enter when you graduated?
There is a lot to learn, especially moving into a large commercial organisation from the NHS
Describe your most memorable day at work
My first day was surreal - i couldn't believe how far i'd come and all the hard work i'd put in during my masters was finally paying off.
Are there any challenges associated with your job?
Understanding the business and learning how cross-functional teams work together and how we can leverage each others knowledge and expertise to work towards a common goal.
What’s your work environment and culture like?
Open, friendly, driven, hard-working, intelligent, approachable and a place where you are always learning.
What extracurricular activities did you undertake at university and what transferable skills did you develop through these?
Badminton - teamwork, leadership and confidence.
What would you like to do next with your career?
Specialize further to develop my skills and expertise of Real World Evidence, either within the pharmaceutical industry or in consulting.
