Courses taken since graduation
NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, Associate Member of IEMA, NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
Where I hope to be in 5 years
I'd like to make it to Director level one day.
My advice to students considering work
Experience. Get as much of it as you can, it is a competitive market and you need to stay ahead of the game as much as you can.
Be flexible and be prepared to embark on Continued Professional Development during your career.
My advice about working in my industry
Be flexible and be prepared to embark on Continued Professional Development.
What I do
I currently provide advice on quality, environmental and health and safety issues across a company which specialises in providing industrial cleaning and decontamination services to a range of blue chip clients. I cover the entire UK at present providing support to around 360 employees.
Skills I use and how I developed them
Extracurricular skills:
Time management which I developed during my degree. Approachability which I developed during my time working as a farm labourer, sailing instructor and whilst working at Balfour Beatty utility services. Report writing skills - also developed during the degree.
What I like most
The best thing about my job is the people I work with. From Directors down to Operatives everyone listens and works together as a team.
What I like least
The travel - I spend a lot of time travelling to various sites and at times it can get tedious.
