The recruitment process

The job was advertised online, I rang the number of the person associated with the recruitment of this position to get any extra useful information, to really know what they were looking for for this role. I filled in the application form online, along with a CV and cover letter. I had an interview at the museum and heard back within an hour.

My career goals when I graduated

To find a job in zooarchaeology or a field related, I pursued a career in museums for the next 5 years.

What has helped my career to progress

Having the background skills and knowledge from the University experience coupled with the ability to volunteer at heritage establishments and museums has helped my career to progress. The experience and knowing people in the field really help.

Many museum contracts are short term, which although has limited job security, allowed me to intermittently be involved with archaeology fieldwork and projects to add to my experience.
