A day in the life of a Supervisor in the United Kingdom
Insurance supervision at the Bank Of England
My career history
At the Bank, informal meetings and training sessions often start with introductions including everyone's career history. Mine is the shortest; I left York, went on various holidays for three months, and then started at the Bank. My only previous jobs were in catering, teaching abroad, and education support at the uni, so this is my first full-time job as well as my first in the industry.

What I do
I work in Insurance Supervision at the Bank of England, engaging in prudential supervision of insurance firms in order to preserve their safety and soundness and protect policyholders. I'm also studying towards a Central Banking Qualification as part of the graduate programme.
What I like most
The work I do is interesting and varied, and I have a reasonable work-life balance. The grad programme is a lot of fun socially, as well as giving me a good network of people to call on across the Bank. BoE is generally a very supportive place to work, which is lovely.
