The ability to convince people that heritage is very important and that it tells us who we are as a people
My career goals when I graduated
To become the best Heritage Consultant
My career history
My career has progressed over the years by studying new aspects of learning theories to become a professional and productive officer.
What has helped my career to progress
By pursuing the postgraduate Cultural Heritage Management programme at the University of York
Courses taken since graduation
Bachelors of Law and the Online Natural Building Course in USA. Both area of study is helping me save what is left of my country's historic buildings.
How my studies have helped my career
I am able to use almost every aspect of studies from York both in my studies and my profession.
What surprised me about my career so far
It is giving me the opportunity to take my knowledge to other territories.
Where I hope to be in 5 years
I hope to be Heritage Consultant for the Caribbean and as well to become a Heritage Tourism Entrepreneur.
My advice to international students looking for work in the UK
To become highly qualified and be professional in what every area that is available to you.
My advice to students considering work
You may not be able to find that specific area of your degree, but you may be able to find an area of the one of the subjects in the course you undertook. Take that specific job until you can find the one you wish to do.
My advice about working in my industry
You first have to be able to convince your prospective employers that the knowledge you gained from York will take their business to a higher level. You must be willing to learn the importance of what you were taught in the class rooms and what more you can add to it to give you the opportunity to start your own business.
Other advice
Please be aware that some of your prospective employers may not have had some of the training and required skills that you may receive from York, so be willing to share, and not to adopt the attitude that you know it all.
