SAMHE transforms UK school pupils into air quality scientists. Pronounced 'Sammy', this project is a fun, engaging, and education research project aimed at enhancing students' understanding of air quality and its impact on learning. The project and supporting Web App have been co-designed with schools to meet the needs of students and teachers in various STEM subjects.
Those taking part will receive a free high-spec air quality monitor for their classrooms which connects to the interactive Web App and be able to explore real-time air quality data, enabling participants to perform curriculum-linked activities and conduct experiments.
Teachers say, "It's powerful to see the live feed of the data", and "the range of options allows us to use this system across the STEM subjects".
SAMHE is a collaborative project, with SEI's York centre leading on co-design, schools' engagement, and software development.
The project launches this week.
