SEI York welcomes Sarah West as new centre director
Bringing her passion and inspiration to the role.
Sarah has a wealth of experience having worked for sei for over a decade at the university of york’s environment and geography department, designing, running, evaluating and researching citizen science projects in the uk and internationally.
initially, she worked on the opal (https://www.opalexplorenature.org/ ) project which aimed to engage people from all backgrounds in science and nature through environmental surveys. Whilst working on this project Sarah completed her phd in the department of environment and geography on the evaluation of environmental education.
Sarah brings truly excellent leadership and communication skills. Måns Nilsson, SEI Executive DirectorSince then, Sarah has been expanding the topics and locations in which citizen science approaches are used, including through work with Parenting Science Gang, a parent-led citizen science project, and developing methods to monitor air pollution in informal settlements in Nairobi.
