The mental and the material
From bodily gestures to printed texts, from prehistoric artefacts to modern architecture, culture and communication involve the embodiment of the mental in the material.
Our researchers explore the many different ways knowledge, belief and emotion have been, and can be, expressed in human behaviour and material artefacts. They also investigate how our material circumstances in turn shape the way that we perceive, think and feel.
