Meet the team
The YorVoice team excels in voice research, and prioritises interdisciplinary collaborations and societal impact initiatives for advancing voice research.
Amelia Gully YorVoice Co-lead |
Lecturer in Speech Science, Department of Language and Linguistic Science. My research uses medical imaging and geometric morphometric techniques to understand how vocal anatomy differs between individuals, and acoustic modelling techniques to understand the impact of these variations on the voice. |
|
Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Research Fellow, Department of Psychology. My research focuses on the neuroscience and acoustics of conversational speech, and particularly how having an atypical voice affects your everyday interactions. |
|
Senior Lecturer in Forensic Speech Science, Department of Language and Linguistic Science. My research considers how individual voices differ, and the implications of these differences for forensic purposes. I am currently focusing on how AI-based speaker recognition systems behave with individual voices, and the implications for interpreting voice evidence. |
