8. Submission of work for examination
Examiners must have full access to all the work that forms part of the final examination.
This means that:
- written work should be submitted as usual (where a thesis is required or permitted, this should conform to the same formatting expectations as a standard thesis submission)
- digital work should be submitted with reference to the guidance on appropriate file formats
- where work is designed to be interactive - eg a video-game - the examiners should be able to experience that interactivity
- the examiners may be invited to view in person any 2D/3D work (alternatively, they must have access to high quality photographs and descriptions of the work - this will also be required for deposit)
- the examiners may be invited to experience in person any ephemeral work (eg a performance/recital/temporary art installation). Alternatively, they must have access to a high quality audio-visual recording of the work (this will also be required for deposit).
Where examiners are invited to view/experience in person any work that forms part of the final examination, this event should always take place before the oral examination and as close to the oral examination as reasonably possible. Where such an event needs, for good reason (eg the PGR wants or is required to reflect on a performance in their written submission), to take place prior to the final submission, an application should be made to PGRA for the examiners to be appointed early. The examiners should not comment on or discuss the work with the candidate at such an event: any comments or discussion should take place within the oral examination (where applicable).
Any queries about unusual submission requirements - particularly about viewing work in person/experiencing ephemeral work - should be directed to PGRA, for consideration by the Standing Committee on Assessment (SCA) where required.
