York Neuroimaging Centre
The York Neuroimaging Centre (YNiC) boasts two of the most powerful neuroscience instruments in the UK. Together, they produce visually stunning images, with high time-resolution recording of neurological activity, allowing detailed study of a huge range of brain functions and conditions.
MagnetoEncephaloGraphic (MEG) scanner
The Centre's £1 million, 128-sensor, whole-head MEG system, provides a non-invasive way of mapping the magnetic fields created by electrical activity in the brain. It generates high time-resolution data, allowing us to capture dynamic brain activity beyond the reach of MRI.
3 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner
The 3 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner, manufactured by Siemens Healthineers, allows high spatial resolution structural and chemical investigations of the whole body as well as studies of blood flow to the brain.
