Music Research Centre

The Music Research Centre is attached to the School of Arts and Creative Technologies and houses professional standard acoustic and recording facilities, exclusively for postgraduate student and research use.

The building has been designed to the highest acoustic standard and includes the UK's premier listening environment for reproduced sound - the 150 seat Rymer Auditorium. The centre is equipped for creative work with digital technology including composition, surround sound and interactive performance.

Facilities at the Music Research Centre include:

• Arthur Sykes Rymer Auditorium
  - premiere listening space for reproduced sound in the UK
• Trevor Jones Recording Studio 
  - variable acoustic properties
• Ralph Vaughan Williams composition studio 
  - digital MRC computer systems and high level acoustic treatment to provide a surround sound listening environment
