Introduction

York Health Economics Consortium is a company wholly owned by the University of York. YHEC was established in 1986 to extend the range of the University's services to the health care sector. YHEC provides consultancy and research in health economics to the NHS and the pharmaceutical and health care industries, which combines rigorous research standards with efficient project delivery.

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) provides the public with a right of access to information held by public authorities. Under the Act, public authorities (including their wholly-owned subsidiaries) are required to adopt a Publication Scheme.

A Publication Scheme is a document that describes the information a public authority publishes, or intends to publish. In this context, 'publish' means to make information available routinely. The Scheme is the public authority's commitment to make available the information described.

The following Scheme (or Guide to Information) is based on the Information Commissioner’s model publication scheme for wholly-owned companies. It describes the information YHEC Ltd will routinely make available; how this information can be accessed (via a hyperlink or the contact details provided); and whether or not a charge will be made for it.

Job title responsible for the Scheme on behalf of the University of York and contact for information: Company Secretary (louise.carr@york.ac.uk).
