To be considered for a Masters programme, you will need to submit a formal application. The quickest way to do this is to make your application on-line.
Follow the guidelines to complete your application form, and to upload all your application documents.
Please complete as much information on your application form as possible and include as many of the required documents as you can as this enables us to process your application much faster. You will need to provide two references – please make sure you fill in the email addresses of your referees so that we can request them directly.
We would recommend that you apply on-line if possible as the process is much quicker. However, we also accept paper applications. Paper forms must be completed and sent to the Student Recruitment and Admissions (not to the Department of Psychology) at the following address:
For paper applications, please again follow the guidelines and complete as much information as possible and include as many of the required documents as you can. References for paper applications must be provided directly from the referee on headed paper and in a sealed envelope sent to the University.
Further information about making your application can be found on the Postgraduate Admissions web pages.
All applications are received first by the central University Postgraduate Admissions team, who register the application. After approximately 24 hours, we are able to view on-line applications in the Department (paper applications may not reach us for 10 to 14 days). When we have received your application, the Postgraduate Admissions team will send you an acknowledgement via email. We will check your application to ensure that the minimum requirements have been met, before sending it to the appropriate members of academic staff for further assessment.
You may be contacted by the department for further information, or to ask you to come for an interview; this is usually done via email so it is very important for us to have a valid email address for you. Please ensure you can check this regularly so that we can maintain contact with you throughout the application process. When a decision has been made about your application, we aim to inform you first via email. You will then receive official notification in writing from the Postgraduate Admissions team. If you have any concerns or queries at any point throughout the application process, please do not hesitate to contact us at psychology-pg-admissions@york.ac.uk.
