Thursday 13 March 2014, 4.15PM to 5.15pm
Speaker(s): Carolyn McGettigan, Royal Holloway
This talk will present a range of behavioural and neuroimaging studies in which explorations of individual variability in perceptual performance have yielded additional insights into the systems supporting the perception of speech and vocal cues in humans. The presentation will focus on speech recognition and perceptual adaptation processes studied using cochlear implant simulations, and will also include recent work addressing the processing of emotional vocalisations such as laughter.
