Annual talk/panel focused on LGBTQ issues from a psychological perspective - e.g., queer representation in the video game industry, the history of attitudes and beliefs about intersex individuals, LGBTQ+ issues in schools.
York Pride is a registered charity which aims to promote equality, diversity and advances in education, in order to eliminate discrimination against the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT+) Community. Members of the university take part in the annual summer parade, and the Psychology department has a Pride-themed stall with family-friendly activities during the Pride Festival.
I'm a Lecturer in the Department of Psychology where I run the NECSUS (NEuroComputational Strategy to Understand Semantics) lab. We use lots of different neuroimaging and computational methods to research how the brain learns and flexibly uses concepts. My teaching focuses on how to run neuroimaging experiments, analyse the data and turn it into a scientific report. I identify as LGBTQ+, specifically as a lesbian/gay woman (she/her), and am passionate about supporting and celebrating LGBTQ+ staff and students, engaging and educating allies and ensuring a positive environment for everybody in the department.
