This Tuesday's Elevator Pitch, hosted by the Club of PEP, will be given by Professor Neil Carter.
Between 2006 and 2010 the UK Government, with strong cross-party support, introduced a radical programme of climate change and energy policies. Briefly, the UK led the way. Although the coalition government was committed to maintaining that leadership role, it has struggled to do so. This backsliding can be blamed partly on the impact of austerity, but more importantly - and worryingly - on the transformation of climate change into a partisan and divisive issue. Without cross-party consensus, progressive climate change policies will be hard to deliver.
It should be of special interest to those interested in the 2015 General Election, those studying politics, environmental science, and ecology.
The pitch will be about 45 minutes in total including the opportunity for questions. It will take place in AEW/105 at 1pm on Tues 17th February and all are warmly welcome.
