The Politics of Counter-Terrorism: A Study of the UK Government and Media's Framing of the Prevent Strategy
In her project, Ayse Serra studies the framing of terrorism and counterterrorism concepts. Using frame theory and securitization theory, she gives special attention to the role of the government and the media and examines how these actors present the problem of terrorism and the solutions they propose to address it. She takes the UK's Prevent Strategy as a case study and examines how the UK government and British news media have framed it and analyses the sources of frame contestation.
