My research sits within International relations, Foreign Policy and Area studies. My current project explores the discourses of nationalism and sexuality in Russia and Turkey. I completed my PhD in the Politics Department at the University of Sheffield in 2015. My thesis investigated the institutionalization of the ‘Russian Idea’ in formal/informal institutions of the Russian state and how this shaped the making of natural gas policy. I am interested in processes of state formation, nationalism and foreign policy.
My teaching practice is informed by my open teaching philosophy. As part of my teaching, I always ensure that all students are supported to reach their full potential through inclusivity in terms of course design and the delivery and assessment for each module. I practice a diverse and inclusive teaching style.
I am currently teaching the following modules:
Critical Global Security Studies
The United States and Global Politics after the Cold War
