Nicolai Gellwitzki is an International Relations scholar. Before joining York, he held an Early Career Fellowship at the Institute of Advanced Studies and taught at the Department of Politics and International Studies at the University of Warwick.
Nicolai Gellwitzki received his PhD in Politics and International Studies from the University of Warwick. He also holds a degree in education from Josef-Mayr-Nussr Fachakademie für Sozialpädagogik in Baiersdorf (Germany), a BA in International Relations from Libertas International University in Dubrovnik (Croatia), a MA in International Security from the University of Warwick (UK), and a MRes in Political Science from Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona (Spain).
Nicolai's research has been published in leading international journals. Drawing on insights from existential philosophy, psychoanalytic theory, and emotion research across the humanities, social and natural sciences, his work primarily focuses on the role of affectivity in Politics and International Relations, with a regional emphasis on Germany and the European Union.
His broader research interests encompass critical security studies, political psychology, international political sociology, and emotion research in Politics and International Relations.
