New week, new month and another chance to take advantage of the various political events and opportunities on Campus and beyond!

The Politics Coffee Morning is also running as usual on Wednesday from 09:30 - 11:00 in the Politics Reception. I look forward to seeing you there for a chill start to the day. 

Finally the Student Journal VOX is looking for students to write 1,000-1,300 papers for their  2024 edition. The theme is: 'Beyond the liberal global order: a decline in the global order or the emergence of 'a new way'?'. Vox is one of the oldest student publications on campus  and is an excellent opportunity to showcase your work, get published and start debate. Interested in politics and government? A career in think tanks or policy can be a great way to put this interest into practice with a range of career options from research to communications to events and fundraising. In a competitive sector this session will look at what a career in think tanks might look like, how to put yourself in the best position to apply and the different roles open to you.

Emily Redding is the Founder of Smart Thinking, the first online platform bringing together all the UK think tanks with their research, events and jobs. After establishing a jobs board in 2019 Smart Thinking is now the go-to place for all job and internship opportunities in the think tank sector.

Food production and consumption: Sustainability panel discussion

Join York for Life online for the latest in their series of Panel Discussion events, focusing on the theme of responsible food production and consumption. This is an opportunity to quiz our prestigious panel and join the discussion.

Chairing the event is Professor Sarah Bridle, Chair in Food, Climate and Society at University of York. Sarah's current research focuses on synthesising, exploring and effectively communicating environmental and nutrition impacts of different dietary options, with the aim of driving changes in food production methods and portfolios to be healthy for people and planet. Sarah founded the Take a Bite out of Climate Change project, including leading a stand at the Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition 2019.
