In 2023, Professor Aaron James Wendland organized a benefit conference - "What Good is Philosophy?" - in support of the Centre for Civic Engagement at Kyiv Mohyla Academy.
A number of contributions to this conference have since been published in a special issue of Studia Philosophica Estonica. Working together with Aaron, Justice Everywhere is pleased to be republishing some of these articles, interviews, and lectures.
Justice Everywhere is a public philosophy blog publishing posts on a wide range of issues in philosophy, ethics and political theory. The publication of this series is organised by Dr Sara van Goozen (University of York), Diana Popescu-Sarry (Nottingham) and Costanza Porro (Lancaster).
Over the next two months, the blog will be featuring posts by Prof Timothy Snyder, Prof Jeff McMahan, Dr Volodymyr Yermolenko, Dr Orysya Bila, Prof George Pattison, and others. The series will conclude with an interview of Margaret Atwood, conducted by Aaron.
The series kicked off this week with an interview of Aaron, exclusive to Justice Everywhere, on the importance of public philosophy in times of war. New posts will be shared every Thursday for the next two months.
The posts (as well as the more extended special issue of SPE) will be of great interest to people interested in the conflict, and offer insights from historians, philosophers, theologians, and political scientists.
