The University of York has done a fantastic feature piece about the work Dr Sara de Jong has done (and is doing) on Afghan interpreters who worked with the UK military during the occupation of Afghanistan and the problems they are now facing as refugees in the UK, trying to find stability in their upended lives.
The full piece "York Research Journeys - Dr Sara de Jong" highlights Sara's research field of international relations and her specialism in working with a range of individuals affected by the broader international political landscape.
The piece also focuses on The Sulha Alliance that Sara co-founded. The Sulha Alliance campaigns for and supports Afghan former interpreters and other locally employed civilians employed by the British armed forces and the art exhibition We Are Here, Because You Were There where Sara worked with photographer and army veteran Andy Barnham.
