And just like that, it’s the last week of the Summer Term! I hope you’re all looking forward to a wonderful summer ahead. It’s been a long year and the break is well-earned, so it’s time to put your feet up a bit.

Before you do that though, take a moment to look at what’s going on this week. Some students are already preparing for next term, putting together a reading group on party politics, so sign up for that if you want to be kept in the loop. It’s refugee week and there are a host of amazing events organised in the city which you can also find at the website of Refugee Action York and the Festival of ideas is still running. It looks like you won’t get bored this week.

Before heading off for the summer, I just wanted to say a big thank you to our dedicated students and staff who once again have created an amazing community spirit this academic year. This is really special at our department and I know how lucky we are to have that. So thanks everyone, to our PolSoc and DCCs, our student representatives, our support staff and dedicated lecturers, and everyone who is participating in our community!

I hope you have a great summer break,

Elisabeth Schweiger (Learning Community Officer)
