IGDC wins Professional@York Award 2018
IGDC Administrator Laura McGill and IGDC Research Support Officer Lauren Avery were nominated for the award for 'Outstanding Support for Research and Impact' alongside 20 other support teams from across the university. The winners were announced at the award ceremony on the 13th December and we are delighted that the IGDC team won!
Grant Successes:
- IGDC Director Prof. Jean Grugel, Dr Alejandro Peña and IGDC Postdoc Dr Maria Eugenia Giraudo have been successful in securing GCRF pump priming funding for an interdisciplinary research project focusing on extraction, sustainability and citizenship in Argentina in an era of austerity. The project, titled "The Natural Resources Economy in South America: Extraction, Sustainability and Citizenship", will be developed in collaboration with Universidad Torcuato Di Tella (Argentina) and Michigan State University (United States).
- IGDC Postdoc Dr Nicole Beardsworth was awarded a 12-month, £30,000 project grant by the AHRC-funded Global Research Network on Parliaments and People. Titled “Democratisation and Ethno-Federalism in Ethiopia: shifting relationships between youths and parliaments at state and federal level,” this project will commence in February 2019. This project will use innovative ethnographic video methods to put youths and parliamentarians in conversation about the efficacy of the country’s representative institutions, and how they might be reformed to become more inclusive and representative of young people’s concerns.
