Congratulations to Simon who has been jointly awarded a grant under the Economic and Social Research Council (ESCR) "Governance after Brexit" programme which will be led by Professor Charlotte O’Brien from the York Law School in collaboration with Madeleine Sumption of the University of Oxford Migration Observatory. The three year project “The new European Economics Area (EEA) Public Services Research Clinic”, which will begin in early 2019 looks at questions of law in action: how will any legislative position as to EEA nationals’ rights on paper actually play out in practice? How will hanging uncertainty impact on their rights? Will they face administrative obstacles or discrimination in accessing public services? Simon will lead the EEA nationals governance and policy dimension of the research project and supervise the project postdoctoral research assistant who will be based in the Department of Politics. The total award is over £500,000 and so this is a great achievement.
