Thursday 19 November 2015, 2.30PM to 4.30pm
The 2017 referendum on the UK’s membership of the European Union promised by David Cameron will be the first UK-wide referendum since 1975. The York Tories welcome two of the most high-profile members of the out-campaign: Dan Hannan, MEP for South East England, and Alan Halsall, the co-chair of Business for Britain.
Regardless of your political persuasion, whether you are in or out, or simply undecided, please come along to what will be a very interesting discussion of Britain’s place in the European Union. Tickets are free and available from the Eventbrite link below.
Dan Hannan MEP is a politician, journalist, and author who is a Member of the European Parliament, representing South East England for the Conservative Party. He is also the Secretary-General of the Alliance of European Conservatives and Reformists, and is an advocate of localism and a Eurosceptic.
Alan Halsall is Co-Chairman of Business for Britain, and an entrepreneur who rescued pram maker Silver Cross from receivership 13 years ago.
Business for Britain is a campaign group that seeks renegotiation of the relationship between the United Kingdom and the European Union. The group was founded in April 2013 by 500 business leaders, including Phones 4u co-founder John Caudwell and former Marks & Spencer chairman Stuart Rose. They are a cross-party campaign for business representing all parties and no party.
