Learning from HRDs: Fighting against violence - Teaching peace to youth in Mexico and Yemen

Ahmed Al-Kolaibi works for DASO Yemen, an organisation that focuses on peace-building and conflict resolution. For him, tribal violence and war in Yemen can only be ended by the younger generations. In his talk he will discuss combating tribal violence through raising awareness and educating youth on the causes and consequences of violence inherited from their fathers.

Irene Miramontes Montes works for Justicia para Nuestras Hijas in Chihuahua, Mexico, an organisation that seeks justice for victims of feminicides. In her talk Irene will discuss violence against women in Mexico, specifically focusing on Chihuahua and Juarez, and highlighting preventive work done among youth.

Both Ahmed and Irene are visiting fellows on the CAHR's Protective Fellowship Scheme for Human Rights Defenders at Risk.

The talks will be followed by a Q & A session.
