Speaker(s): Ambassador Mohammed Daud Yaar of Afghanistan
Dr Yaar graduated from the faculty of Economics, Kabul and later taught at the faculty before receiving a Fulbright Scholarship to study at Bowling Green State University, Ohio.
In addition to teaching economics, Dr Yaar worked as an advisor at the Department of Economic Analysis, Minisry of Planning, and the Central Statistical Office of Afghanistan
Dr Yaar left Afghanistan following the communist coop and moves to Germany where he received his doctorate degree in economics.
Dr Yaar returned to Afghanistan in 2008 to serve his country. In 2009 he was appointed as economic adviser to the Office of the Chief of Staff of the President. In June 2012 he was designated as ambassador to the UK by His Excellency the President of Afghanistan. Mr. Yaar presented his credentials as ambassador to Her Majesty the Queen on October 24, 2012.
Dr Yaar will speak of the achievements of Afghanistan and its steps towards a more democratic future. Focusing on the set of Presidential elections which are currently being help. He will also discuss his country's need to rebuild the infrastructure of the nation with particular regard to education and women's education especially.
