The BBC is the largest broadcaster in the world, with approximately 23,000 staff; it operates under Royal Charter and a Licence and Agreement from the Home Secretary. The Corporation's guaranteed income from the licence fee and the World Service grants are supplemented by profits from commercial operations through a wholly owned subsidiary, BBC Worldwide Ltd. York alumnus James Heath is Controller of Policy at the BBC. He will discuss his role at the BBC, and debate some of the salient issues at the organisation. There will be an opportunity for audience questions.
