Study with us
The world today is arguably a more dangerous place now than at any point since the end of the Cold War. As well as ongoing conflicts around the globe, we face a range of other complex problems. Studying at York means you'll learn about the politics of current global challenges and the power relations behind them.
Our range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses explore all aspects of politics, international relations and development. You'll be able to tailor your studies to focus on the topics and issues that interest you most.
Impact and engagement
Our researchers advise policy-makers and support national and international organisations involved in the world of public affairs. Members of the department regularly appear in the media and engage with a wide range of communities to shape thinking and action about the most urgent issues of our times.
An inclusive environment
We are fully committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. We believe that diversity should be celebrated, and we strive to provide an environment where all students and staff feel supported and valued.
